I decided to learn more about Unity and familiarize myself with Unity’s Monodevelop by recreating a boss level inspired by a game called Hammerwatch. I thought this would be the best use of my time and approached learning using a method common in painting: would be doing “studies” of old masters to learn their techniques via appropriation. I coded the player’s movement system on my own in C# and utilized Unity’s graphical interface to create reusable objects like prefabs. This skills I learned by investing time in this study was immensely useful for me in all my future endeavors.
